He Regretted Divorcing The Genius Doctor

Belinda and Lucas have been married for three years. One evening she returns with a cake he wanted and hears Lucas say he married her only to protect his ex-girlfriend Veronica from his father's threat. Lucas tells her the divorce papers are at home and to sign them when she returns. The cake has already been given to Veronica.

At the courthouse the next morning, Lucas does not show. He says he is tied up and asks to reschedule. Belinda, feverish and coughing, pulls the SIM card from her phone, drops it into the trash, and leaves the country.

Three years later, Belinda returns as the goddaughter of Santino Thomas and is set to join the cardiac surgery department at Grand Plains General Hospital. At the Thomas family's welcome banquet, Ryan Adams approaches her without recognizing her; Lucas does recognize her. They argue about who avoided the divorce and agree to meet at the courthouse the next morning. During the banquet, Mr. Singh collapses, and Belinda performs a pericardiocentesis to drain fluid from around his heart. Santino vouches for her when others question the procedure.

The divorce stalls again when Harold Clark, Lucas's father, has an asthma attack after hearing about the divorce. At the hospital, Harold makes Lucas and Belinda promise not to divorce. In private, Harold asks Belinda to delay the divorce until after his birthday, and she agrees. Lucas later accuses her of stalling.

Belinda's father Baker then calls and demands she return to the family home. The door password has been changed, so she breaks the door with a hammer. Baker tries to force her to kneel and apologize for events from three years earlier, when she was falsely accused of stealing Kylee's necklace and pushing Kylee. Belinda refuses, snatches the whip, and throws it to the ground. Carola, Baker's current wife, and Kylee, Carola's daughter, intervene. Kylee says she forgave Belinda long ago. Belinda leaves.

Belinda meets her close friend Bethany at a bar. Bethany asks what if Kylee was the one who planted that necklace in her bag, and says Kylee's fixation on Lucas was over the top. She also asks whether anyone in the family reacted oddly to the news about the hormone medication. Belinda recalls that a doctor overseas found her weight issues stemmed from hormone-changing medicine.

Later Belinda receives a call from Harold and goes to the Clark estate. Harold asks her and Lucas to move back in. Belinda agrees for Harold's sake, and Lucas agrees after his mother Norma urges him. Sharing a room leads to a fight over the bed, with Lucas taking the bed and Belinda left on the sofa. Belinda tells Lucas that she considers the signed divorce papers final and herself his ex-wife. She tells him to wait until after Harold's birthday to be with Veronica.

Belinda later visits her mother Holly, who apologizes for not believing her three years ago. Belinda forgives her, but Holly hints that Carola may have known about Belinda's existence long before she joined the family. The divorce remains stalled by Harold's health and birthday, and the questions about Belinda's past stay open.
