Avery Reed, a Sterling Group employee, takes daily bullying from his supervisor Vanessa Vaughn, the daughter of a Sterling Group shareholder, because his mother's treatment depends on his paycheck. When he asks for the project bonus to pay her caregiver, Vanessa orders him to dress as a woman and walk through the office—or lose the job.
Kane Sterling, the CEO, has already turned down six female assistant candidates sent by his father, Richard. Avery, still in women's clothes, is brought in as the last candidate. Kane picks him as his special assistant, then adds another condition: Avery will act as his better half whenever needed, for one million dollars. Avery agrees and keeps his identity hidden.
Richard, the Sterling Group chairman, gives Kane a deadline: bring home a fiancée, get engaged to Vanessa, or lose his place to his brother. At Kane's home, with Vanessa and Richard present, Kane presents Avery as the fiancée he is marrying. A kiss is used as proof. Avery plays along for the money.
After the dinner, Kane drives Avery home. In the car, Kane loses control and kisses him, then tells him to get out and leaves him on the road. Vanessa and her men show up and go after Avery. Kane turns back and stops them, rejecting Vanessa's account, and takes Avery to his villa.
At the villa, Kane treats the wounds on Avery's back. The money gap between them stays sharp, and Kane's reaction to Avery becomes something he cannot explain. He stops himself.
The next day, in a business meeting, Vanessa's target-audience plan for a core project aims at lower-income consumers. Avery interrupts and redirects the strategy toward high-net-worth users who value privacy and exclusivity. Vanessa threatens to expose his secret. Avery keeps his ground, and Kane orders Vanessa to redo the plan.
Kane's fear that Vanessa went after Avery again sends Noah, the chief secretary, to locate him. At the hospital, Avery is visiting his mother. He puts on a doctor's coat and claims part-time shifts to avoid Kane seeing his real identity. His specialty is andrology. Kane, feeling something is off, asks the doctor to take a look.
