Elio, heir of the Steese family, follows his friend Lucas's directions to the wrong room and ends up in a gay bar, where a masked man ties him up and flirts with him. Elio escapes and threatens to find out who he is. His stepmother Leila later arranges his enrollment at St. Hurst Police Academy.

At St. Hurst, Damian appears as the High Commissioner, Elio's new stepbrother, and his instructor. His voice sounds familiar. Damian assigns Elio to a dorm with one bedroom; Elio refuses to share but ends up sleeping there.

Elio has a wet dream about Damian and wakes in Damian's bed. Still insisting he is straight, he goes alone to a gay bar to test whether he likes men.

At that bar, a customer harasses Elio. Elio hits him with a bottle; the man swings a bottle at Elio as he turns away. Damian, masked and with his men, kicks the customer off and says, "who gave you the nerve to lay a hand on what's mine." He carries Elio into a private room and sets the safe word as mercy.

Official training begins. Elio volunteers for a combat demonstration; Damian chooses him. Nevan, a second-class cadet, resents Elio's defiance and uses his rank to make Elio fetch meals. Elio does not submit quietly. At the pool, Nevan pushes Elio—who fears deep water—into the water.

Elio must confirm whether Damian is the masked man and decide if he likes men, all while surviving the academy's ranking system and Nevan's hostility.

Dramaglance Notes
The safe word is mercy. That's the detail that sticks after Damian—masked, with his men—kicks a customer off Elio and carries him into a back room. Elio leaves the private room without a name to put to the mask. He keeps insisting he's straight, then walks into St. Hurst and hears a voice that sounds far too familiar from his new stepbrother. The dorm has one bed. The combat demo puts Damian right in Elio's space. Nevan's pool move is rank-backed cruelty. Every scene tightens the same question: how much does Elio already know about the man behind the mask, and why does his body keep answering before he does?
Character Dynamics
Elio arrives at St. Hurst as the Steese heir, with his stepmother Leila behind the enrollment. Damian is the High Commissioner, Elio's new stepbrother, and his instructor—three roles that keep Elio off balance. Lucas, Elio's friend, sent him to the wrong room where the masked man first appeared. Nevan, a second-class cadet, resents Elio's defiance and uses rank to pressure him. The main tension sits between Elio and Damian: Elio cannot confirm whether Damian is the masked man, and he will not admit what his own reactions mean.
