Can't Reject My Alpha Captain

Edith Winters arrives at Derek Frost's room with a shot from Professor Bramwell. Derek recognizes her as his mate, just in time for his rut, and claims her. Bramwell then reveals Edith was bait; he used her to harvest Derek's alpha seed. Derek wakes to the machine and rejects her as part of the trick. Three months later, she wakes in a hospital, pregnant and alone.

Three years on, Edith has raised their wolf son Jacob in hiding. Her friend Monica Lee, who works for a hockey team, pushes her to let Jacob be with wolves and points her to a team doctor opening. Edith applies at the Frostfang Ice Arena, where Derek is the boss—though she does not know that yet. During a game, Victor's shot heads for her; Derek shifts and takes the hit. In the locker room, he recognizes her and accuses her of another scheme to steal his seed. Edith treats his wound anyway, and keeps her distance.

Derek is under pressure to produce an heir or lose his grip on the pack. Victor taunts him about it, and his family keeps pushing she-wolves at him. Layla Green, one of those she-wolves from Derek's office, notices the Alpha's interest in the human doctor and starts watching Edith. Then Derek hears Jacob's voice through Edith's communicator, calling her mommy. Edith claims a talking husky with a soundboard. Derek orders Connell to find out discreetly whether she has a child.

Layla catches Edith taking raw meat from the pack canteen and confronts her. Edith says it is for stray pups; Derek does not expose the lie, but turns the claim into her responsibility and tells her he has his eye on her.

What follows is the moment the secret nearly breaks. Jacob falls from a cliff while chasing a ball, and Derek saves him in wolf form. The boy calls him daddy on sight. Derek denies being his father—then sees the eye color, the mark of his pack's bloodline.

With Derek back in her life, the mate bond and Edith's rare White Moon bloodline begin to awaken. The pack starts hunting her blood, and Edith has to face the Alpha who rejected her while keeping Jacob hidden.
