Ava Carter transfers to Westridge High for junior year, the same school where her mother Claire Carter built the legendary girl group Glow. She arrives on a bike, no driver, no designer outfit, determined to stay anonymous. Her mother's assistant offers the Paris showcase jacket and the silver cuff from Claire's final tour; Ava says no. She wants real friends, not people chasing her mother's shadow. Minutes into her first day, Tiffany and her crew knock over her bike, scattering her sketchbook across the ground, then spray her with a water gun. At a school assembly, with Principal Grant sidelined by a golf cart accident, a substitute administrator introduces Mia as the Carter daughter. Ava, standing in the crowd, calls out for Mia to sing the hardest bridge of Glow's biggest hit. Mia stalls, unable to produce a note. Ava rises, walks forward, and speaks the words that shift everything: "Because she's not Miss Carter. I'm the one who was supposed to be standing here."
