That same night, Colette hides a wounded male vampire in a restroom from armed pursuers. He is hit by sanctified silver. She uses her Omega pheromones and a kiss to mask his blood scent, then treats his arm and warns him the silver toxin will cost him the arm in half an hour. He leaves behind an ice crest. He already knows her name.
Brooke, Colette's best friend, identifies the ice crest as belonging to the Norton family's supreme lord—the Frost-Eyed Reaper. Meanwhile, Evander clears a hospital scheme against Dr. Freeman without her knowing.

Colette's father Gary demands money and threatens to expose her mother's secrets. Colten summons her to fetch clothes for his cocktail party. She goes to his villa, finds her access revoked, and leaves with her mother's belongings and money—her last connection to the Norton family.
Later, Evander exposes Colten's affairs and forces a public apology. When Gary attacks Colette, Evander’s bodyguard ends it. Colette learns Evander carries a patricide shadow and remembers saving him as a child. Their feelings surface. She asks about the past. He confirms she remembers.
