On their seventh anniversary, Joanna Rhodes is confronted in her own home by Scarlett Rossi—her husband Julian Vance's mistress—who has mistaken Joanna for the other woman and broadcasts the humiliation publicly. As Scarlett destroys property and shatters a deeply personal keepsake from Joanna's late mother, Joanna overhears Julian reassuring Scarlett over the phone with a generosity he has never shown in his marriage. She calls Julian to return home, and in the aftermath, she sees the full extent of his deception and double life.
