Evelyn built Cole's Vegas empire, then he destroyed her body for Sienna. She takes it all back—but what does Cole lose first?
Evelyn left her wealthy family to build an empire with Cole, the man she loved. Thirteen years ago, Cole was a kid from one of the roughest parts of Vegas. He changed for her—no suspensions, a GPA above 3.0—and she chose him over the life her family had planned. Cole promised he would never betray her.
By the third year of Cole's affair with Sienna Blake, an emerging sculptor, Evelyn had become the wife he always wanted. She stopped checking his phone and stopped asking where he spent his nights. Cole thought she had finally accepted it. She was getting ready to leave.
After a vehicle attack on the Las Vegas strip, Cole shielded Sienna with his own body and was seriously injured. Evelyn, listed as his emergency contact, told the hospital they had the wrong person. She had already filed for divorce. Cole confronted her about not coming; Evelyn reminded him of his own rules—don't remind people she's his wife, don't show up when he's with Sienna because it makes her uncomfortable.
Cole refused to divorce. He told Evelyn that Sienna made life feel new again, that he wondered what would have happened if he'd met Sienna first, but Evelyn would always be his wife, always Mrs. Maddox. Sienna would be part of his life, and Evelyn needed to accept reality. Evelyn stopped fighting. She had accepted one thing: he wasn't worth her love anymore.
Evelyn forced Cole to choose between the apartment where they started and three days without Sienna. He chose to sell the apartment. Then at lunch with Cole and Sienna, he humiliated her again. Gunfire broke out. Both Evelyn and Sienna were shot. At the hospital, Cole ordered the doctors to save Sienna first, signing whatever they needed. The doctor warned that Evelyn's condition was far more serious. Evelyn survived.
The doctor told her that during surgery, a procedure was performed without her consent and could not be reversed: a hysterectomy. Her uterus had been removed. Cole explained. Sienna had a severe clotting disorder and might never have children. She fell apart, saying Cole would leave her because she couldn't have kids. Cole wanted Sienna to know he wouldn't leave her. So he had them remove Evelyn's uterus. He had Marcus transfer thirty million dollars to Evelyn for what he took from her body. Evelyn had already lost their first child; now there would never be another.
Evelyn divorced Cole, reclaimed her life, and walked away. Cole lost everything.
