The Hidden Plus-Sized Luna Queen

Lirael, eldest daughter of the Moonfall clan, is drugged and spends a night with Prince Lucian. He sees a red birthmark on her neck and decides she is not his mate.

She tells her master she will take back her mother's place as Luna, then come find him in the north. After she leaves, Alpha King Valerius speaks with his Beta, Harlan Voss. Lirael is now without equal in the north, and he has secretly named her supreme commander of the Royal Guard — but he will not reveal himself as her master.

Lirael is pushed into a ravine and fights the abyssal nightweaver. It gets away. She believes she is too weak to kill even a bug. Then Lilith, her half-sister, comes to tell her to hurry home: something has happened to her mother.

She returns to find Seraphina, the current Luna, beating Elowen. Lirael says she was drugged and framed. Gareth, her father and the clan Alpha, is told she has disgraced the clan. The clan is summoned to the glacier abyss. The nightweaver is dead. King Valerius offers ten Royal Guard positions to the clan that finds the killer. Lirael asks to compete. Gareth mocks her weight. She makes a deal: if she wins, her mother's Luna position is restored, and they leave the clan forever.

At the tournament, she extinguishes two fireballs and places last. In the crow hunt, she kills zero and is eliminated. The final trial is a duel. Darius Thorne, her ex-fiancé, holds the arena. Lilith challenges him and loses. Lirael steps up.

Darius insults her mother. Then the total eclipse hits. Harlan tells Valerius the potion's seal is breaking. Lirael transforms — thin, powerful, nothing like the woman who was mocked. She defeats Darius. Prince Lucian recognizes her. The Thorn clan objects. Lucian announces her as the winner.
