The God-King Returns: Too Late to Beg

Ares, the God-King, sacrificed his power to seal demons and protect the six races. A thousand years ago, six races signed marriage contracts with him. The Holy Light Realm flourished under his protection. His return is for that pact.

At the demon binding seal, a demon god threatens to unleash demonkind. Ares kills it in one blow, then tears open space. Witnesses see a peasant do what they could not. The Temple of Radiance wants to find and thank him. The brides dismiss him as a low-born farmer.

The six named brides are Liliana, the Silver Dragon Princess; Selena, the Human Empress; Elise, the Vampire Empress; Samantha, the Medusa Queen; Cecilia, the Angel Saintess; and Asiya, the Elven Queen. Five of the six reject Ares as a fraud and break their contracts. They call him a nobody trying to marry into noble blood.

The contracts break. The sky darkens. Earthquakes hit the human empire; tsunamis swallow dragon islands. Ares names vampires and medusas as next. The women call it natural disaster. Cecilia sides with Marcel, the chosen heir of the Temple of Radiance.

They go to destroy the demon sealing altar. Ares's warning about the altar keeping demonkind sealed goes unheeded. They believe it seals their chance to become gods. They destroy it. Freed demons praise the demon emperor and promise the Holy Light Realm will drown in blood.

Only Asiya, Queen of the Elves, honors her vow. She stands by Ares and enters the Divine Realm with him. The others learn the truth too late.
