The Girl Hidden in the Vampire Band

Vivian Reed's twin brother disappears after signing a huge compensation deal with a top band. She takes his place and joins Aurora as Vincent Reed, the new keyboardist. Aurora is the biggest band on the planet, with over a hundred million fans. She plans to get through three years without anyone discovering her secret.

The dorm has one rule: never open the curtains during the day. Vivian sees Aurora's leader, Elaine Veyra, is a vampire. Elaine catches her and bites her. He has lived a thousand years and has never tasted blood this addictive. Seville Walker, the lead guitarist, asks why Elaine lost control—he never drinks from the living. Elaine's answer is that Vincent's blood lets them face the sun.

Before rehearsal, Ryan Black, the bassist, asks about the new guy. Elaine calls him sweet, then recalls his conversation with Seville.
