Isabella Garnet believed Holden was her fated mate. Her father, Dirk Garnet, needed a daughter to honor a contract with Ronan Frostveil, the Frozen Lycan King, comatose in an ice coffin for five years. Isabella drew the bone marked with the Frostveil bloodthorn totem. She was bound to marry Ronan.

She overheard Holden was the Blackstone Alpha king, not a lowly guard. He stayed close to her only to protect Lorna, her stepsister, who had no wolf. Holden would not mark Isabella. She understood he never wanted her. She agreed to marry Ronan and demanded ten million gold coins, half the clan territory, and Holden reassigned as Lorna's bodyguard. Dirk agreed, and the wedding was set for seven days.

Lorna admitted she lied to make Holden believe Isabella had hurt her. Isabella ended everything with Holden.

She burned what reminded her of Holden. The wedding was three days away. Ronan would awaken, and with him an ancient contract and a new power.
