The Fighter Who Refused to Kneel

Underground fighter Mickey fights in Roseford until mafia boss Ian comes to collect his father's gambling debt. The father cannot pay, and the men intend to take Mickey's younger sister Emma instead. Mickey offers himself and warns that touching Emma means death. Ian accepts and brings Mickey to his estate.

At the estate, Ian sets three rules: no running, no contact with the outside world without permission, and come when called. The debt goes down when Mickey behaves; if not, Emma pays. Ian has lingerie custom made for Mickey and hands him the key to a private boxing gym.

Ian trains him personally — plant your feet, the power comes from your hips, keep your eyes on the target. Mickey calls it a cage and refuses to be an obedient pet. Then he finds Emma's photos in a wardrobe — Ian has been watching Emma the whole time. He accuses Ian of beating him, locking him up, and using his sister as leverage. Ian lets him walk out, expecting him to come back once he falls hard enough. Mickey returns. Ian punishes him, and the only way it stops is if he begs.

Training resumes. Mickey still cannot read Ian and asks himself what Ian wants from him. Ian orders a custom suit and a woman's evening gown. Mickey assumes the gown is for Emma. At a charity night, Ivan Cole, a former classmate who bullied Mickey, taunts him and offers a drink as an apology. Mickey takes it, and Ivan mentions Emma. Mickey punches him. The drink was spiked. Mickey collapses. Ian seals the exits, pulls the footage, bags the glass, and detains the waiter. The Cole family will not have a place in Roseford if Mickey is not okay.

Later, Ian pays Emma's bills and takes a bullet meant for Mickey. Mickey sees Ian with Emma and reads it as a kiss. When enemies conspire, the truth comes out: it was an IV line, not a kiss, and the bullet was meant for Mickey. At their cathedral wedding, Ian declares, "My one and only love."
