Bella Capello took her runaway sister Victoria's place at the wedding to Damian Grimaldi, the mafia don. She did it to save her family. Three years later, Damian had never touched her. She lived in fear and repression, convinced she was only a substitute.
Desperate to escape, Bella faked an affair with an unregistered SIM card, sending Damian photos and texts pretending a lover was with her, and waited for him to divorce her. Damian was overseas closing an arms deal when the messages arrived. He called; she ignored it. He came back at dawn and saw the bandage on her neck — marks she had made herself to fake hickeys.
He did not expose her. He assigned two bodyguards to follow her everywhere, called it protection, then left. Bella called it surveillance. Five days later, he cut the trip short and came home for good. The surveillance eased, and Bella got the phone back.
She resumed texting. His right-hand man Luca suggested divorce. Damian shut it down: "She didn't cheat. I trust her. Isabella would never do this." Bella overheard. For three years he had looked at her like furniture. Now he was defending her.
She pushed harder, sending more fake photos. Damian replied with evidence: the SIM card had been purchased in Barcelona, shipped to his own house. His men had found the purchase record. He had known the whole time.
He did not let her go. He locked her in the estate and claimed her. She fought, fled, and pushed back. Through the fight, the truth surfaced. Damian had stayed away out of respect and care. Bella had already fallen for him without realizing it. She tore up the divorce papers. They stopped pretending and finally began their real marriage.
