After King Arthur is betrayed, a prophecy warns that Camelot will fall unless Arthur's true heir draws Caliburn, the Sword in the Stone. That heir is Kael, Arthur's illegitimate son. Raised as a stable boy, humiliated by nobles, Kael is secretly trained by Merlin and the Lady of the Lake.
When a Wight Dragon attacks Princess Rhaenyra's convoy, Kael slays it. The princess sees something in him. She helps him enter the Round Table trials, where nobles mock his low birth. During the bloodline test, Kael steps into the circle – and summons the Crimson Dragon. Only Arthur's blood can do that. The room falls silent.
Later, Undead Armies storm Camelot, and Prince Aegon confesses to betraying Arthur. Under Rhaenyra's protection, Kael finally draws Caliburn. The sword awakens the Crimson Dragon's blood within him. The boy no one wanted becomes the kingdom's only hope.
