In her last life, Helen Hart was class president for the senior trip to Medford. Chloe Cole, the cheer captain, pitched an airport prank: every student would carry a clear bag of flour through TSA at Troy International Airport. Helen tried to stop it, alerted parents, and saved their futures. After the prank left Chloe publicly humiliated, Chloe jumped off a building. The class blamed Helen and shoved her off the rooftop.
Helen woke at the moment Chloe posted the prank plan in the WhatsApp group. This time she did not call parents. She posted one warning: she would not participate, there would be no powder in her luggage, and she did not consent to a prank at a security checkpoint. The group mocked her. Chloe promoted the stunt on TikTok with a countdown and gave the time and terminal: 10 a.m., Terminal 2.
Dylan Dale, Helen's childhood friend, sent a private message promising to step in front of her and asking her to stop calling out the prank in the group chat. In her last life he said the same things, then kicked her off the rooftop. She ignored him.
A news memory surfaced: on that day, in that terminal, the DEA had busted an interstate drug ring. Thirty students with open suitcases and white powder would be perfect cover. Helen called Mr. Miller, the school staff member in charge of the senior trip. He first called it outrageous, then accused her of overreacting—Chloe and Dylan had told him the flour was for pizza. Helen recorded the call.
She filed a police report on the prank and flagged the drug risk behind the suspicious accounts. The police said they would notify the DEA and TSA at Troy International Airport and told Helen to protect her suitcase.
After leaving the police station, Dylan was waiting on the roadside. He said it to her face: he would stand in front of her, she would not have to say anything, and the camera only needed to catch her for one second. Helen refused.
At home, Helen emptied her suitcase, filmed every inch, tied black thread around the zippers as tamper markers, and uploaded everything to an encrypted cloud drive. At the airport, classmates lined up for their powder bags, thrilled as if collecting Ivy League offers. They pushed Helen to take hers. She refused.
Later, the former cheer captain was scrubbing grease at a roadside diner, and the class vice president broke down at a copy shop. Dylan, soaked in rain and covered in mud, dropped to his knees and begged Helen to drop the charges so he could still play in the NCAA. Helen looked down at him and shut the window. "Being young is no excuse for hurting people." As police sirens wailed and the internet celebrated their downfall, Helen walked beneath the trees of an elite university and received a confidential internship offer from the Supreme Court.
