Belinda was Lucas Clark's wife for three years. He never loved her. She was an illegitimate daughter he was forced to marry because his father Harold threatened him into it. When Verena, his first love, returned, Lucas casually mentioned wanting a mousse cake. Belinda spent five hours getting it. Standing outside the private room, she overheard Verena's friends laughing that Lucas had married someone ugly and fat just to spite his father. Her marriage was a transaction.

She pushed the door open. Lucas told her the divorce papers were on the coffee table, said it like three years meant nothing. She signed. A tear fell. Her mentor called with a study abroad opportunity. She took it. The next day, she dragged herself to the courthouse with a high fever. Lucas never showed. She removed her SIM card and threw it away.

Three years later, Belinda walked into a banquet in a red gown. No one recognized her. When a man collapsed, she tore her hem, knelt, and saved his life. Lucas watched from the crowd, his expression complicated. Afterward, he cornered her in the hallway. They agreed to divorce the next day. Both showed up, but Harold suffered an asthma attack and made Lucas promise not to go through with it. Lucas accused her of playing hard to get. She told him she wanted this divorce more than he did.

At a bar, Lucas pulled her away from a confrontation and scolded her dress. She brushed him off. At the Wright family dinner, her father Baker mocked her exams and praised Kylee. Belinda reminded him she was permanent staff at Royal Hospital while Kylee was a contract employee. Lucas sat beside her, amused.

At Royal Hospital, Belinda was introduced as a new resident physician, permanent staff. Kylee's face went white. When the department needed Star for a high-risk aortic dissection surgery, no one knew Star was Belinda. She completed it in four and a half hours.

Kylee called Belinda to dinner, dropped hot soup on her own hand, and screamed that Belinda burned her on purpose. Her mother believed Kylee. Baker believed Kylee. Belinda picked up the bowl and threw the soup directly onto Kylee's hand. She was done.

Baker took Kylee to the Clark mansion. Lucas wrote a check for five hundred thousand and said he knew Belinda would never do such a thing. Even if she had, Kylee must have provoked her first.

Johnson, Lucas's friend, tested Lucas by claiming feelings for Belinda. Lucas punched him. Johnson told Belinda it proved he cared. She couldn't believe it.

Belinda's godmother Molly called. Kylee had supposedly saved her from a thug. Molly was moved. Belinda asked if the thug had been caught. At the banquet Molly threw for Kylee, she played the recording of Kylee hiring the thug and showed the bank transfers. The room went silent. Molly announced the Thomas family had only one goddaughter—Belinda. They would only ever have this one.
