Vince Astor finishes a three-year hidden trial in a homeless camp. Athena Jones, the Godfather's California Capo and AJ Group chairwoman, crowns him America's Godfather and hands him the family estate, AJ Group, and the syndicate network. He keeps the title secret and spends the night saying goodbye at the camp.
Helen Stark, CEO of Stark Group, finds him there and proposes on the street. She is the woman he saved two years earlier; she tracked him by the patch on his blanket matching the hole in his coat. Vince, still dressed as a bum, goes with her.
At the Stark estate, Helen's father Tom, stepmother Tracy, and brother Steve push her to marry Philip West, the West family heir. The AJ Group investment contract depends on it, and Steve expects to replace her as CEO. Helen refuses.
Vince steps in. When Philip asks who he is, Helen names Vince her husband in front of the family and Philip. Vince calls Athena, then tears up the marriage contract. Philip swings a baton; Vince catches it and slaps him. Guards close in, and Athena arrives, warning them off.
Later, Vince's power surfaces layer by layer—a bank president kneels, a $1 billion bid lands, an underboss kisses his ring—and Helen chooses him anyway, for who he is.
