Six years ago, Jace Sinclair won his championship and signed with a top European racing team. Hazel Bennett discovered she was pregnant. Jace's mother, Victoria, offered her money to get rid of the baby and disappear, arguing the child would ruin Jace's future. Hazel refused the money but agreed the baby would hold him back. She decided to leave.
Jace proposed, planning to take Hazel to Europe after signing. Hazel ended things instead, claiming she was moving overseas for her career and did not want to be tied down. Jace warned that if she walked away, they were over for good. Hazel left without looking back.

Later, Lexi locks Hazel in a bathroom and takes her clothes. Jace rescues Hazel and gives her clothes, but tells her they are strangers now. He also warns Lexi to never pull anything like this again.
