Linsey Wheeler married Bryson Higgins three years ago to repay his grandmother, but he fled the wedding and never saw her face. She stayed quiet about the marriage, carrying her parents' debts and planning to leave once she could.
A late-night meeting with client Devin turns into an assault after he drugs her. Linsey escapes into a corridor and collides with Bryson. She asks for help, and they spend the night together. At dawn, he doesn't recognize her. He offers money to forget it, and Linsey takes the check without explaining who she is.
Through Asher Harper, Linsey wins a customs case for Higgins Group. Bryson hires her as legal counsel, still assuming she sleeps with clients to get work. When Devin corners her again, she blurts out that she is married to Bryson Higgins. Bryson rescues her, then she lies and says it was only self-protection. He asks Mike to investigate her.
Cathy, Bryson's ex, returns before the business trip and wants to go with him. He chooses Linsey instead. On the trip, partner Perry Dixon drugs Linsey. Bryson kicks open the door, carries her out, and later notices a red mole under her collarbone. Linsey knew Bryson had never seen her face, only some of her physical marks. He asks why she has the same mole as his wife. Linsey says she found out what his wife looked like and had the mole tattooed because she wanted to be Mrs. Higgins. Bryson tells her, "I don't even want my own wife, let alone a scheming woman like you," and slams the door.
Back at the company, Linsey fights back against Eunice Sutton, and Bryson fires her. Then Chloe, Bryson's mother, publicly shames Linsey as a woman seducing her son. Linsey says she is a married woman and walks away. Later, when Bryson asks about the divorce his mother mentioned, Linsey pulls a draft divorce agreement from her bag and places it on his desk. She tells him his wife can sign it.
Bryson is still investigating Linsey Wheeler. Cathy is still close. The divorce papers are now in his hands, and the marriage he fled is not over.
