Sage Bennett, after winning her fifth World Culinary Championship, goes undercover as a homeless beggar to find someone with genuine character. She offers a ten-million-dollar investment to the first person who gives her food. Her ex-boyfriend Ben and high school classmate Molly pass by; Ben recognizes her and tells Molly she is his high school classmate. They mock her and record her.

Jasper Vance, who is trying on wedding attire with his fiancée Daisy Potter, gives her bread. Daisy sees this and demands he choose between her and the beggar. Jasper calls off the engagement. Daisy vows revenge through her father, Cyrus Potter. Afterward, Jasper buys Sage a burger and tells her to keep the money. Sage offers him a ten billion dollar contract from Home Group. He does not believe her.

Jasper's family restaurant is failing. He hires Sage to play his wealthy fake fiancée for five hundred dollars a day, hoping to appease his family and secure investment. Sage agrees.

At the Vance home, Sage claims to be from a wealthy restaurant family with ten million in annual income. The family accepts her. On the wedding day, Jasper's cousin Mia accuses Sage of being a fraud, having seen her at a rundown hotel. Sage claims her family owns the Home brand, the culinary legend's company. Jasper covers for her, and they kiss. Cyrus Potter arrives with Leo Sterling, the son of Senator Bruce.

Cyrus forces a culinary death match that will shut down Vance restaurant. Leo suffers from severe anorexia; only the culinary legend has ever made him eat, for a hundred million dollars. Rowan Vance, Jasper's father, has an injured wrist, but his dish is still served. Leo tastes it, spits it out, and calls it disgusting. Cyrus moves to close the restaurant.

Sage steps up: “give me three.” She cooks in three minutes. When cornered, Sage sheds her disguise, reveals her true identity as the culinary legend, and turns the tables against world-class chefs. The revelation sparks a legendary romance.
