Adeline Dawson married Brandon Clemens because her family needed the match. Her father used her mother's medical care as leverage. She loved Brandon long before that, ever since he saved her from school bullies. But he only married her to satisfy a dying grandfather who wanted a great-grandchild.

For three years, she did everything. Breakfast every morning. Waiting up at night. Diamond rings she bought with her own savings. He never wore his. He never called except in bed. He showed up for Tiffany, his sister-in-law, in ways he never showed up for Adeline.
