After seven years of marriage, Amanda finally conceives a child with her husband, Dante Bellandi. At a prenatal checkup, she finds Dante with Donna Cortelli, his childhood sweetheart. Donna reveals Dante plans to marry her, and her child will carry his name as the sole heir. Dante calls the arrangement temporary and claims claiming the baby is the only way to protect Donna and her child. Amanda asks him for a divorce; he refuses.
Dante confines Amanda to the estate and orders that she receive no visitors. Amanda tries to leave, but the guards stop her. She tells Dante he is keeping her prisoner and does not deserve to be her child's father.
Later, Marina Cortelli, Donna's mother, arrives and has the master bedroom made up for Donna. Donna taunts Amanda. Amanda slaps her. Donna accuses Amanda of trying to hurt her and the baby. Dante says Amanda is his wife and stays, but tells Donna to stop causing trouble. Marina pushes back, saying Donna carries the Bellandi heir. Dante sends Amanda to the basement because Donna will not give up the master bedroom.
Amanda's birth parents had found her three years earlier and promised to bring her home if she was ever unhappy. She calls them and asks to come home. Donna persuades Dante to stay at the Cortelli estate. Dante agrees and promises Amanda he will return before the baby is born. Amanda bids him goodbye. She has already decided he will never see her again.
After Dante leaves, Marina Cortelli and Lenora Bellandi, Dante's mother, confront Amanda. They call her a whore, demand the divorce papers, and threaten to remove the baby. Amanda asks, "What if I told you mine is Dante's baby and Donna's is the bastard?" They do not believe her. Marina hands her a blade to cut her finger and sign in blood. They try to take her to the hospital to get rid of the child. Amanda insists the baby is hers and that none of them will touch him.
Meanwhile, Dante feels something is wrong and orders the jet ready to go home. Amanda leaves and becomes the sole heir to a powerful Mafia dynasty. When Dante uncovers the truth, he faces whether he can win back the wife who once loved him.
