Maddie Kade spent twelve years on a Montana ranch, taming wild horses and rising at four each morning. A job paying two hundred thousand dollars a year brought her to the Ashford family, hired to pay off her late father's ranch loans. She became Elias Ashford's nominal wife, married only yesterday, and was expected to calm his autistic five-year-old stepson, Liam.
