Her Mafia Father's Wrath

Rosalina Moretti is the daughter of Enzo Moretti, godfather of one of New York's most powerful mafia families. He hid her from his world to protect her, but arranged a marriage so she would not be left alone. The groom was Leon Scott, son of New York's richest man, handsome, loaded, and a rising star in business. On paper, he was perfect.

For the wedding, Enzo had a custom gown flown in from a Milan designer. On the day of her fitting, Rosalina walked into the bridal boutique and found Nicole Hill, Leon's childhood sweetheart, wearing her wedding dress. Nicole handed her a cheap white polyester bridesmaid's dress and pushed her to wear it for the ceremony. Nicole had Leon's word: she would walk down the aisle in Rosalina's place, and Rosalina would stand like a good little bridesmaid.

Rosalina called Leon. His answer was cold: "Rosalina, I decide who my bride is." He required only her presence at city hall and her signature on the papers. Then the line went dead.

Staff framed Nicole as the favored one and Rosalina as lucky to marry into the Scott family. Rosalina demanded her wedding dress back and refused to change. When Rosalina said the Scott family answers to someone bigger, Nicole shoved her into a display rack and threatened her. Rosalina did not hit back. She had promised her father that her words and actions represented the Moretti name and that she should not start trouble. She only dodged.

Nicole grabbed a vase and raised it to bring down on Rosalina's skull. A voice from the doorway shouted stop.
