On her wedding day, Wendy walks into the ballroom in her gown and finds a memorial portrait for Anna's father. Carter has changed into mourning clothes and stands with Anna's family. Wendy slaps him and confronts him over canceling their wedding for his first love's father; Carter defends Anna as his godfather's daughter and a sister. Wendy messages Alex—Carter's biggest business rival—asking if he is free and adding “I need a groom.” Carter then tells Wendy's parents and guests to leave and demands the head table for Anna's family.

Alex arrives and asks whether she truly wants to marry him. Wendy hands over the contract, guest list, and license. He throws Carter's ring into the hotel fountain and gives her a new dress in her size. After changing, Wendy returns for her mother's handbag and sees Carter burning her spare wedding dress; she throws a basin of water over it. Carter tells her to wait next door until after the memorial, when he will discuss postponing the wedding. Alex writes one word—out—across the funeral portrait with her lipstick. Wendy's lawyer revokes Carter and Anna's access to the marital home her parents paid for, ends her family's project guarantees for Carter's company, and withdraws the fund and client resources meant for him after the wedding.

Alex reads the documents and warns her not to decide the marriage only for revenge. Wendy calls it her choice. They sign after the registry verifies the paperwork, choose new music and rings, and cut the guest list to people who care about her. At the ceremony, Alex offers her a chance to stop; Wendy takes his hand and does not look back.

Afterward, Alex gives her two plane tickets and leaves the honeymoon choice to her. Wendy sends her assistant the guarantee termination papers and has banks and business partners notified; her family's relationship with Carter ends. At the airport, reporters ask about the woman beside Alex; he takes Wendy's hand and calls her his wife. The news reaches Carter at the memorial hall. He calls Wendy repeatedly, unaware she blocked him, then reaches her assistant, who confirms the marriage is legally registered. Carter gets Alex's number before boarding and demands a divorce. Wendy looks at her ring, calls him a joke, hangs up, and blocks him.

Alex asks whether she regrets it. Wendy admits a little. Alex frowns, pins her lightly against the airport glass, and refuses to allow it. The rushed marriage starts as Wendy's public break from Carter. Alex's years-long secret feelings and Anna's lies are still ahead, and the marriage begins to grow toward real, equal love.
