Prince Elian, born with a magical blockage, is framed by his brother Hilder for poisoning their mother and cast out of the royal family. Hilder goes further, colluding with outsiders to drug Elian's wine with an aphrodisiac. Disoriented, Elian stumbles into the underworld of Eternal Night City and spends an involuntary night with Rayne, the beastman leader of the Greedy Wolf Palace. The next morning, Rayne's men have just wiped out a rival gang, seizing full control of the city. When Elian's loyal guard Linus catches up, they are cornered by Hilder himself, who demands the Heart of Phantom Knight—the last keepsake Elian's mother left him.
