Daddy, Mom Is Not Crazy

Brianna was pregnant and working four jobs when Alexander's condition collapsed. He needed a hematopoietic stem cell transplant. She was a match. He had always refused to let her take the risk. She signed anyway. The doctor warned her—minimal anesthesia, because anything more could harm the baby. The pain would be severe. Cinda had paid off the medical team to make sure she wouldn't survive the surgery. She lived, but everyone believed she was dead. Alexander woke up to a corpse. He had to be dragged away from her body. Cinda, his childhood sweetheart, said, "You really thought you could steal my man. Alexander will be mine, whatever it takes."

Seven years pass. Alexander still visits Brianna's grave. He keeps their wedding ring in a drawer. He tells his father he will never marry. His father keeps pushing Cinda on him. He keeps walking away.

On a street corner, a boy named Lucas picks up a discarded hot dog from the ground. He takes it to his mother. She hasn't eaten in days. She has head trauma and lost all her memories. She doesn't remember her own name.

Alexander's car pulls to the curb. The woman on the ground looks at him and says his name like she's said it a thousand times. Cinda shoves her to the pavement and calls her a scammer. Alexander throws money at them and walks away. The woman collapses. Her son screams for help.

At the hospital, the doctor tells Lucas his mother needs an experimental drug from Clark Corp. She has days without it. Lucas realizes the man who broke his mother is the only one who can save her. He tracks Alexander down—outside his office, into traffic, finally kneeling in the rain outside the Clark mansion. An old man brings him inside and stares at his face. The boy looks exactly like Alexander did at seven. A DNA test is ordered.

Alexander's wedding ring goes missing from his drawer. He offers a reward—anything the finder wants. Lucas sees the announcement. His mother wears the same ring, protective of it without remembering why. He takes it from her finger while she sleeps and brings it to Alexander at the hospital, asking for the drug in exchange. Alexander looks at the boy, looks at the ring, and accuses him of stealing it.
