Adriana married a beggar who was secretly Zagreus, heir to Olympus. Now he's back as King of the Gods and her family must answer for every bruise.
Zeus sends Zagreus to the mortal world in disguise to find true love before he can inherit the throne of Olympus. Disguised as a filthy vagrant, he ends up married to Adriana the same day her father tries to sell her to a wealthy old man. Adriana refuses the noble match and accepts the vagrant instead, choosing starvation over becoming some man's breeding stock.
On their wedding night, Zeus summons Zagreus back. He leaves Adriana with the promise to return in seven days, not knowing one day in Olympus equals one year on earth. Only after being crowned King of Olympus does he learn the truth. Seven mortal years have already passed.
Adriana stays in the Morrow house with their two children, Orion and Iris. The family withholds water, calls the children bastards, and treats Adriana as a slave. Her sister Aphrodite and her husband Elias visit and drag them to a festival as servants.
At the altar, Zagreus watches as his wife and children are struck and humiliated. The statue shatters, and the crowd blames Adriana's family for offending the king. Her own relatives call her and the children unclean and defiled.
They decide to burn Adriana, Orion, and Iris alive to appease the gods. Adriana begs, reminding them the children share their blood. No one listens. The fire is about to be lit.
Zagreus steps forward, no longer caring about divine law. His voice stops the crowd: "Who dare touch my wife?" Every tormentor is about to face him.
