Ethan Nicholas once ruled New York's underworld. He made a promise to his wife Vesper, buried that life, and became an ordinary man raising their daughter Anna. Twenty years later, Anna's wedding is three days away, and Ethan plans a grand return: he tells Leo, his sworn brother and the man he left the blood syndicate to, to invite every name in New York and announce Ethan's comeback at Anna's wedding.
Leo's son Carlo is the groom. Carlo is not the man the family thinks he is. He beats Anna, dismisses her as a construction worker's brat unworthy of the Valerio bloodline, and only tolerates the match because Leo forces it. Anna offers to call off the wedding; Carlo refuses. Leo sees the bruises, asks Carlo how he really feels about her, and warns him that hurting Anna again means Leo will kill him himself. Carlo's answer is that he never wanted to marry her.
Before the wedding, Anna goes home and hides the bruises, calling them a fall from a horse. Ethan sees her arm and swears to put Carlo in the ground. Anna insists it was an accident. Ethan asks her whether she is afraid of the Valerio family's power, and tells her there is no one in the city her father cannot kill. He gives her her mother's jewelry and promises her the golden lilies from Vesper's hometown. Once she leaves, he orders a private jet, the flowers, and round-the-clock eyes on Carlo.
Carlo's retaliation comes the night before the ceremony. He brings the most important men in New York to Anna and tells her to take care of them. She refuses. He threatens to have her father's body found on a construction site unless she plays the perfect bride. Anna tells him, "I'm your wife and you did this to me." She asks her father to forgive her, saying she will not be able to stay by his side anymore. She cuts her wrist. Ethan is opening the door. The next day, on her wedding day, she jumps from a window and is left comatose.
Ethan drops the disguise. He takes down Carlo and the men protecting him, exposes the plot of Dean, the vengeful son of his old enemy, fights through a building full of enemies, and rescues Anna and Lina. The two-generation gang war ends there.
