Betrayed, I Mated the Dragon Prince

Audrey Wilder, a spirit-deer shifter whose parents died in a monster attack, grows up in Steven Lockwood’s home alongside his sons Vincent and Damian. Steven expects her to choose one of them as a mate at Aethelgard Academy’s mating ceremony, and for years Audrey assumes she will.

Then Manya Thorne transfers in. At the Star Ball, Vincent and Damian dance with Manya and leave Audrey alone on her eighteenth birthday. Manya pushes Audrey down the stairs; in the infirmary the brothers accuse Audrey of faking to ruin Manya’s night and say they won’t accept her at the mating ceremony.

Manya keeps taking. She destroys Audrey’s garden, scratches her face, and stages a fall when the brothers appear; they take her side, threaten to throw Audrey out, and use her orphan status against her. The necklace Audrey’s mother left her becomes the breaking point. Manya wants it; the brothers call Audrey’s attachment a sob story. When Audrey refuses to apologize, Vincent hurts her and promises to buy her a cake with peanuts, forgetting her allergy. They lock her in the storage room.

Audrey stops waiting for them. She signs a mating contract with Sebastian Frost, the dragon prince and future ruler of the beast continent—the mate her parents chose before they died. Steven approves the match and arranges her transfer to Leonford Academy. Sebastian sends word that he will collect her at the ceremony, along with a mirror to call him and chocolate without nuts. He is the only one who remembers what she likes.

The brothers still see Audrey as the problem. When they learn the truth about Manya’s dark magic, they beg Audrey to come back. By then Audrey has already chosen Sebastian and will not look back.
