Vera White, heiress of Silvermoon City, chooses Draven Mason, the Dragon Lord of the North, as her husband for the family's advantage. Earl White asks about the five beastmen they raised instead—Logan, Leon, Silas, Orion, and Cole, taken from an underground pit after Vera's mother was assassinated and trained for twenty years into prominent northern figures. Vera had loved Logan and confessed to him for years; he refused her every time.
After Selina, a maidservant's daughter, entered their lives, the five beastmen's loyalty shifted. Selina claims blood pacts with all five, Logan last. Logan uses Selina's blood pact to ease his heat, then warns Vera off Selina.
Draven's proposal follows; Vera accepts and signs the marriage contract. Before the birthday banquet, Selina taunts Vera with the five pacts. Vera dismisses the names as irrelevant.
At Vera's twenty-third birthday banquet, Earl White presents the Palace of Spring. Selina already holds the key and deed; Logan gave them to her. Logan asserts a future husband's say in family matters; Vera rejects the marriage on the spot and announces her engagement to Draven.
Selina plays a recording stone of Vera kissing Logan's picture. All five beastmen claim responsibility to shield Selina. Vera has Logan whipped; Selina, bound to him by a sympathetic connection, feels every lash. Logan begs Vera to stop for Selina's sake. Vera orders them out. Earl White backs her, and the wedding with Draven is set.
After the banquet, Draven hears the report and takes it upon himself to handle Logan. At the wedding, Selina's schemes unravel; she tries to kill Vera, and Draven saves Vera through their sympathetic connection. The traitors are punished, and Vera finds lasting happiness with Draven, her childhood savior.
