Felix wakes in 1995 as a 200-pound gay outcast with fashion genius. Can he save Carter's leg, repay the old Felix's debts, and still reach New York?
In 2026, fashion designer Felix dies after a runway interview when a stage light falls at the show. He wakes in 1995 inside Felix, a 200-pound gay outcast in the small town of Oakridge. The old Felix steals from his legal guardian Carter Hayes, a former army officer who gave up a promotion to major and left the military early to care for him after his parents died, a choice tied to a childhood vow. The money goes to Derek, the factory manager's nephew, and Derek's mother Megan treats Felix as trash. When Derek claims Felix drugged him, Megan orders Felix stripped and thrown into a mud pit. Carter returns and kneels to ask for mercy. Megan drops the police threat only after Carter gives up his lead mechanic position and accepts washing gears in the lowest workshop, which cuts his pay and threatens the medicine his mother Barbara needs.
After that, the old debts surface. The old Felix borrowed 500 from a loan shark and used Carter's pickup as collateral to buy Derek a birthday gift. Carter hands over the pickup—his father's only keepsake—and settles the debt. Carter moves to end the guardianship and leaves the apartment for the factory. Felix promises to become a top designer and buy back everything Carter lost.
Felix starts cleaning and designing menswear. Sophia, editor in chief of Chic magazine in New York, buys the clothes and offers Felix a test: ten different pieces in three days for five thousand dollars. Felix accepts. Carter is sent to the northern mine for three months. Before leaving, he gives Felix 300 for living expenses and plans to end the guardianship on his return.
Felix earns money, loses weight, and delivers designs Sophia pays for. She promises a larger check if the market responds. Three months later, Carter's legs are crushed by a machine. The hospital needs 30,000 dollars for microvascular surgery or amputation. The factory management has frozen Barbara's union insurance account. Megan and Derek mock Carter and claim Felix will not come.
Felix returns transformed, pays the 30,000, and brings in the best microvascular specialist. Carter rejects charity; the payment is framed as what the old Felix owed Carter. As Carter is wheeled toward surgery, Barbara says he is saved. After that, Felix turns on Megan and Derek with a warning: "I'll collect what you owe his legs, principal and interest." Derek privately registers that Felix really is different. Carter wakes after surgery to Felix asleep by his bed; he could have hated Felix or left, but Felix came, and he does not know what to do now. Felix's next move is to repay Carter and climb toward the New York fashion world Sophia represents.
