At the hospital, Nicole gives birth to a son. Ethan holds the baby, then hears Nicole and Justin Brace, his most trusted protégé, planning for Ethan to raise the boy and hand over his company and fortune. Ethan knows the child isn't his.
At Brian's seventh birthday, Brian dismisses Ethan and prefers Justin. Nicole asks Ethan to book a Michelin restaurant, then invites Justin to thank him for attending Brian's baseball game. Justin gives Nicole a gift and tells her to try something bold. Ethan asks Justin to take care of Nicole and Brian.
Two decades after the hospital, Justin asks Ethan for startup capital to do business with the King of Wall Street, not knowing he is speaking to him. Ethan plays along. Brian's SAT scores are poor. Nicole and Justin warn him he'll never be trusted with the company. Ethan announces his own plan: Brian will intern, study in Paris, and take over.
Nicole and Justin wonder if Ethan suspects, but Justin insists Ethan is in the dark. Ethan, watching through a one-way mirror in his office, says the stage is set. Brian returns from Paris. Ethan calls a press conference.
At the conference, Ethan steps down from all roles and transfers his assets and shares to Brian, making him CEO. Then Justin and Nicole appear hand in hand. Justin announces: "Brian Wayne is in fact my biological son." He demands Ethan return him.
