Ethan Cole met Sophia Reed in college. She was the chairman's daughter who chased him for months, knitting a sweater until her fingers blistered. He was an orphan who had never received a handmade gift before. When she got down on one knee and proposed, he said yes.

Five years into the marriage, he found an envelope. Inside were photos and messages. Sophia called another man "my little puppy." Hikes, dinners, hotel rooms — the same nights she told Ethan she was working late. One post was marked visible only to him. The man's name was Liam.

On their anniversary, Sophia came home late with a custom diamond necklace called "For Ethan." She tried to pull him into the bedroom. He said he was tired. She asked if he was still upset about the missed anniversary. He said he just didn't want her getting too tired. He quietly removed their wedding photo from the wall and arranged for the necklace to be auctioned for charity. When she noticed and asked, he said he was just cleaning. Ethan went to see Mr. Joe, his boss. "I was planning to promote you to deputy director next month. Are you really willing to walk away from everything here just like that?" Ethan thanked him and said there was nothing left worth staying for.

That evening, Sophia came home and insisted he join her at a gathering with friends. At the party, they played truth or dare. The bottle pointed at Ethan. Liam asked him when he last slept with his wife. Someone joked about him getting older, not quite up to it anymore. Sophia stopped them. "Play the game if you want, but don't bully my husband." Ethan said he was tired and left.

After Ethan was gone, the group kept playing. Sophia stayed. Liam used her phone to call Ethan. On the other end of the line, Ethan heard everything. Someone asked Liam whether the last time with Sophia was indoors or outdoors. Liam said they specially picked a park. Sophia likes excitement, he said. Then someone asked Sophia directly: "Do you even love Ethan Cole?" She answered: "I've never loved him. I was only playing around with him from the start. At most, he's just a free servant who cooks and does my laundry."

Ethan called the identity erasure agency. The voice on the other end was procedural. "Three days left in the process. Confirm or withdraw?" He said: "I confirm."
