Abandoned Pawn, Unrivaled Dragon King

Owen is the discarded heir of the Hale family. At the awakening ceremony, his half-brother Ellis reaches level eight. Owen produces nothing. His father sends him to Dragon's Hollow to awaken his power or die. Ten years later, Owen survives, becomes the disciple of sanctuary master Silas Gallon, and carries six rings of the Dragon God's mark. Silas warns him not to call on the gold mark unless he is dying. Before the Moonlight City selection, Silas tells Dragon Marshal Nemo his disciple will enter. Nemo passes the order to Dragon Knight Ferris: get the Hale patriarch's son in, believing Ellis is that disciple. Owen and Akira descend from Dragon's Hollow together.

Owen returns home first. His father and Ellis mock him, call him a stray, and offer him the role of Ellis's squire. Owen says he entered the selection too. In round one, Ferris's dragon unleashes its pressure. Ellis stands in enchanted armor. Owen stands in the corner, and the crowd calls it a cheap trick.

Round two pairs Owen against Ellis. The family head orders Owen to forfeit to save Ellis's strength. Owen refuses. His father disowns him and calls him a stray dog. Owen renounces the Hale name. Ellis summons a Jade Dragon prepared by Ferris and orders Owen to kneel. Owen refuses: “I'm not a failure. I'm Owen.” He names his mother Liz Manta. Akira blocks Ellis's attack. Owen tells Akira “together.” Akira soars and transforms into the golden dragon.

Owen awakens the Ten Dragon God Marks and forms a soul-deep bond with Akira, bearer of the ancient Golden Dragon bloodline. Betrayed by his family, stripped of his name, and tormented by the Sanctum that should have been his home, he rises in the full wrath of a Dragon God.
