High school senior Isabel has a serious heart condition and secretly loves her best friend Alex. When Alex's father dies saving her from an attack, Isabel misses the trial because of another heart attack. The killers go free. Alex blames her, and his grief turns into hatred. He lets classmates bully her. Isabel later gets the case reopened, testifies, and the men are convicted.
