Nine years ago, Ruby lied to William outside the delivery room: "Julie didn't make it." But Julie survived—she lost her memory and her voice, becoming "Jane," a mute mother raising her daughter Lily alone in the poverty of the slums. Nine years later, Jane leaps from a building to protect Lily from a cruel taunt—unaware that the boy tormenting her daughter is Victor, the son she never got to raise. At the hospital, Lily begs a doctor to save her mother. That doctor is William—Jane's long-lost husband, Victor's father. He doesn't recognize the mute woman fighting for her life, but the small charm that links two children's fates points to a truth he wouldn't dare believe: the woman lying near death is the wife he mourned. And time is running out.
