On Christmas Eve, Nora, a hardworking mechanic-waitress, is publicly humiliated and abandoned by her husband for another woman, then immediately fired from her job. After showing kindness to a stranger, she receives a lottery ticket as a gift, which she soon discovers is the winning ticket for a multi-billion dollar jackpot. Before she can process this, an accident leads her to the hospital under the care of Dr. Chris, the compassionate man who hit her with his car. While recovering, her ex-husband and his new partner confront her, mock her claim of winning, and attempt to further degrade her, until Dr. Chris intervenes in her defense.
